Running a server
Invites and joining
Control how people find and get into your server: the main invite link, a custom invite code, one-off links with expiry and use limits, public listing on Discover, applications, age restriction, and the rules people must agree to.
The main invite link#
- Server Settings
- Invites
Every server has one main invite, like invite.sunflare.me/hk7tm2qa. It never expires and has no use limit. Anyone in the server can share it with Invite People.
Pasted in chat, an invite link shows an invite card with the server's name and a Join button, and it shows a preview when shared on other sites too.
Regenerating the code#
Regenerate Code (Manage Server) replaces the main invite with a new random one.
Custom invite code Cosmos Pro#
Replace the random code with a memorable one: type it next to invite.sunflare.me/ and click Set. Only available while the server owner has Cosmos Pro.
Set night-owls and share invite.sunflare.me/night-owls on your stream overlay.
Extra invite links#
Separate, one-off links you can hand out and take back individually, each with its own limits.
- Choose Expires after: 30 minutes, 6 hours, 12 hours, 1 day, 7 days, 30 days, or Never.
- Choose Max uses: No limit, or 1, 5, 10, 25, 50, or 100 uses.
- Click Create Link, then copy it.
Each link is listed with its uses and expiry so you can revoke it any time. A server can have up to 25 extra links.
- Inviting one friend: 1 use, 1 day. Nobody else can use it even if it's forwarded.
- A tournament sign-up post: No limit, 7 days. Revoke it when sign-ups close.
Who can join#
- Server Settings
- Access
- Invite Only
- People join directly with an invite link. The default.
- Apply to Join
- Using an invite sends a request instead. It waits in Pending Join Requests until a moderator approves or denies it.
- Discoverable
- Listed on Discover (the compass on the rail). Anyone can join directly from there, no invite needed.
Age-restricted servers#
Turn on Age-Restricted Server if the whole server is for adults. Teen accounts can't join or view it, and neither can anyone signing in from a region whose law requires real age verification. Adults confirm they meet the age requirement when they join. Members who were already in the server before you turned it on aren't removed.
For one adult channel in an otherwise general server, use an age-restricted channel instead.
Server rules#
Add rules under Server Rules with + Add a rule, then Save Rules. With rules set, new members must agree to them before they can send messages or interact. The first time they try to post, the rules appear for them to accept, and then they send again.
- Be civil and respectful.
- No spam or self-promotion.
- No age-restricted or obscene content.
- Help keep things safe: report problems to a moderator.
Adding someone directly#
People with Manage Server can skip invites entirely: Add Member in the server menu adds someone by username. Banned users can't be added.
