Privacy settings

Decide who can contact you, what other people can see about you, and what Sunflare collects. You can also download a copy of everything you've written.

Who can reach you#

Direct Messages#

Everyone
Anyone on Sunflare can start a DM with you. The default for adults.
Server Members
Only people who share at least one server with you.
Friends Only
Only your friends. The default for teen accounts.

Friend Requests#

Everyone
Anyone can send you a request. The default for adults.
Friends of Friends
Only people who share a friend with you. The default for teen accounts.
Nobody
No one can send you requests. You can still send them yourself.
Example: getting unwanted DMs from a big server

Set Direct Messages to Friends Only and Friend Requests to Friends of Friends. Strangers in that server can no longer DM you, and your friends are unaffected.

These settings don't affect existing conversations' history. To stop one specific person, block them.

What other people can see#

Hide My Activity
Hides Game Activity, "Listening to" from Rich Presence, and "Live on Twitch" from everyone else. You still see it yourself.
Hide My Connections
Hides the Connections section (like a linked Twitch account) on your profile card.
Hide My Friends List
Hides the Friends section on your profile card.
Allow My Camera/Screen in Others' Broadcast Studio
Lets someone you're in a call with use your camera or screen share as a source in their Broadcast Studio, which can send it to a livestream. Off by default. Turning it off stops your video in their graph straight away.

Your email and birthday are never shown to other people.

Blur Sensitive Media#

Images detected as explicit, and images in age-restricted channels, are hidden behind a click-to-view warning. This is locked on for accounts under 18. See Safety and age rules.

Usage telemetry#

Sunflare collects anonymized usage data, like which features get used, to decide what to improve. It never includes message content. Turn on Opt Out of Usage Telemetry to stop it for your account.

Download your data#

Request Export builds a JSON file containing every message you've sent, across every server and DM. It's built in the background; come back to the same place to download it once it's ready.

  1. Click Request Export.
  2. Wait for it to finish (longer if you've sent a lot of messages).
  3. Download sunflare-data-export.json.
What the file looks like

A JSON file you can open in any text editor, listing your messages with where and when you sent them. It's meant for keeping a personal copy, or for checking what's stored about you.

For everything else Sunflare stores and why, read the Privacy Policy.
