Streamer Mode
Streamer Mode keeps private things off your stream: notifications stop showing who messaged you and what they said, and Sunflare asks before showing your email or birthday. It can switch on by itself when streaming software is running.
- Settings
- Streamer Mode
What it does#
- Notifications just say Sunflare: New message, with no sender and no text. That covers the moment people usually get caught out: a DM popping up in the corner of a stream. It applies to the pop-up in the app, the system notification, and the Game Overlay, which sits right where your stream capture points.
- Email and birthday in Settings are always hidden behind Reveal. With Streamer Mode on, clicking Reveal asks you to confirm first, so a stray click doesn't put them on stream.
Turning it on#
- By hand: switch on Enable Streamer Mode, either here or in Settings → Modules.
- Automatically Windows desktop app: turn on Automatically enable when streaming software is detected.
Automatic detection#
Every 15 seconds, the desktop app checks whether any of these are running: OBS, Streamlabs, XSplit, Twitch Studio, vMix, Wirecast, PRISM Live Studio, Restream Studio, or Lightstream Studio. If one is, Streamer Mode turns on. When they've all closed (confirmed by a second check a few seconds later), it turns off again.
If you turn Streamer Mode on by hand while automatic detection is off, it stays exactly how you set it.
A checklist before going live#
- Turn on Streamer Mode (or check that automatic detection did).
- Capture the game window, not your whole screen.
- If you don't want viewers to see what you're listening to or playing, turn on Hide My Activity.
- Close DMs and private channels in Sunflare before switching to it on stream.
- For no pings at all while live, set your status to Do Not Disturb.
